Dr Jamie Wood BA (Hons.), MA, PhD (Manchester) Learning Development and Research Associate (Dissemination) (2007 - Sept 2009) 0114 2225276 Email: jamie.wood@sheffield.ac.uk
My role at CILASS is to support the inception, development, implementation and evaluation of a wide variety of IBL projects. This involves working with a range of staff, brokering contacts between stakeholders, offering pedagogic and other advice, providing information, conducting research, and disseminating findings internally and externally. I have specific responsibility for CILASS dissemination activities. All of this will hopefully help to ensure that IBL is not only successfully applied in the individual projects, but becomes embedded in the teaching and learning culture at Sheffield.
I recently handed in a PhD in early medieval Spanish history at the University of Manchester, having previously completed an MA in Medieval History and a BA in History there. During the doctorate I taught on several modules in the departments of History, Classics and Ancient History, and Religions and Theology, delivering seminars and lectures. I also facilitated various workshops for the Widening Participation and Postgraduate Training Units in the Faculty of Humanities. I worked for two years as a tutor in halls of residence in Manchester, with responsibility for pastoral care for the students. For the year prior to taking up the position at CILASS I worked part-time as a Student Intern at the Centre for Excellence in Enquiry Based Learning (CEEBL) in Manchester, working as part of an interdisciplinary team to support and evaluate projects and to put across the student point of view.
