Pam McKinney BA (Hons.), MSc, MCLIP Learning Development and Research Associate (Information Literacy) 0114 2225273 Email: p.mckinney@sheffield.ac.uk
My role is to support academic staff undertaking development projects in inquiry-based learning. This includes conducting background research to support innovation in teaching and learning, providing advice on designing inquiry-based learning activities and the creative use of learning and teaching materials, and assessing and evaluating projects. I also provide specialist support relating to embedding information literacy in inquiry-based learning curricula. I provide a link between academic staff and Library staff, specifically through the Information Literacy Network project and more generally by brokering support from the Library for CILASS funded activities. These activities have the aim of ensuring that students participating in inquiry-based learning have the requisite information toolkit to become independent learners.
I also contribute to the CILASS programme of evaluation and pedagogical research and am responsible for the CILASS website.
I have twice been a student at the University of Sheffield , completing a BA (Hons.) in Modern English Language and Linguistics in 1997 and returning to study for the MSc in Information Management in 2001 at the Department of Information Studies. I am a chartered member of CILIP: the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals.
