Civil Structures Courses

All of our MSc programmes are approved by the Institution of Civil Engineers, the Institution of Structural Engineers, the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation, and the Institute of Highway Engineers as satisfying part 2 academic base requirements for a Chartered Engineer under UK-SPEC*. Modules offered within the Contaminant Hydrogeology and Environmental Management of Urban Land and Water programmes include short courses endorsed by the Geological Society for Continual Professional Development training.

Each MSc is a 12 month intensive full-time course consisting of 120 credits of taught modules, split equally over two semesters, followed by a 60 credit project dissertation during the summer. The dissertation is tailored to the theme of the course selected. The Postgraduate Diploma is awarded for the successful completion of 120 credits of taught modules and a Postgraduate Certificate is awarded to the successful completion of 60 credits of taught modules.

The MSc courses can also be completed on a part-time basis over a period of 2-3 years.

Financial support is available from a variety of sources to assist students studying the MSc in Contaminant Hydrogeology, MSc in Environmental Management of Urban Land and Water and MSc in Urban Water Engineering and Management.

* as long as your first degree is accredited by the above institutions

Important information for applicants

In order to assist us with converting offers from conditional to unconditional it would be helpful if applicants who are requested to provide additional documents (e.g. transcripts of results, IELTS test results) could upload them to their Postgraduate Online Application.  Please do not send documents as e-mail attachments as this may delay the conversion process.
