University Sports and the Community

The University´s sport department, Sport Sheffield, runs coaching sessions and supports local community initiatives. They recently supported the Broomhill Festival with the schools football tournament involving over 80 local schools and the community football initiative `Blast off´, led by the city council.

Many of the University's sports facilities are accessible to the public and available for hire to local groups. A large number of local residents enjoy the use of the S10 gym and pool.

The University is also working closely with Sheffield City Council to help attract Olympic teams to Sheffield to use University facilities as a training centre in the run up to 2012.
