Sheffield University Wind Orchestra presents a Grand Celebration of the world of wind music in a special collaboration with the symphonic wind orchestras from the Universities of Manchester and Leeds.
Programme to include the world première of In Nostro Tempo, a major new commission for winds from the international composer Charles Camilleri in celebration of his 75th birthday year.
Each orchestra will play individually, combining to perform David Bedford´s amazing tour de force Sun Paints Rainbows on the Vast Waves and the grand finale of Bill Connors´ Tales aud dem Vood Viennoise.

Sharing Music Sharing Lives
In this culturally diverse and musically engaging event, Sheffield-based Asylum Seekers from all over the world share their music and their experiences of their journey from the known to the unknown. Proceeds from the concert will go to the charity Assist, which supports destitute asylum seekers in this region.

English Lute songs, French Airs de cour and Spanish and Italian songs (including Caccini´s great Amarilli mia bella) will be interspersed with lute solos by John Dowland.
