Dr G Brown (Politics) awarded the Sir Earnest Barker Prize for the best doctoral thesis in political theory.
Dr S Carey (Politics) awarded the Sir Bernard Crick award for outstanding teaching.
Professor J Haffenden (English Literature, Languages & Linguistics) elected a Fellow of the British Academy.
Dr P Huristone and Dr S Cross (Medicine) jointly awarded a Medical Futures Innovation Oncology and Cancer Care Award.
Ms J Jesper (Nursing & Midwifery) won the Robert Tiffany International Award from the Royal College of Nursing for her work in improving the care and teaching of disabled children in the Ukraine.
Professor R Jones (Physics & Astronomy) appointed an EPSRC Professorial Fellow and Senior Strategic Advisor for Nanotechnology.
Dr A McMillan (Politics) jointly awarded the WJ Mackenzie Prize for the best book on British political science.
Dr D van Oostrum (English Literature, Language & Linguistics) awarded a National Teaching Fellowship for excellence in teaching by the Higher Education Academy.
Emeritus Professor D Read (Animal & Plant Sciences) awarded a knighthood for services to Biological Science.
Ms E Rodriguez-Falcon (Mechanical Engineering) awarded a Royal Academy of Engineering Teaching Prize for teaching and course development.
Professor A Taylor and Dr C Lees (Politics) won a joint prize for the best paper published in the journal Politics in 2006.
Professor P Ingham (Biomedical Sciences) elected an honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians.
Professor F Hamdy and Professor P Shaw (Medicine) elected Fellows of the Academy of Medical Sciences.
Professor A Walker (Social Studies) awarded this year´s Social Policy Association Lifetime Achievement award.
