Projects Supported By Convocation
In recent years the following projects have received support from Convocation.
- Contribution to the University South African Scholarship Fund
- Grant to the University Drama Studio
- Donation of the backdrop of the stage in Convocation Hall
- Contribution to the costs of the Nielson Musical Concert organised by the Department of Music
- Contribution to the costs of the European Day of Languages organised by the School of Modern Languages
- The costs of the commission and performance of a new musical work by the Lindsays as a part of the University's centenary celebrations
- Contribution to the costs of publishing the University's centenary history volume Steel City Scholars by Helen Mathers
- Contribution to the costs of the reunion of officers of the Students' Union as a part of the Union's centenary celebrations
- Contribution to the costs of publishing the centenary history of the Students' Union by Helen Mathers
- Many members of Convocation contributed memories of their time in Sheffield to form the Convocation Archive which was used by Helen Mathers as a source in writing the centenary history of the University
- Dr D C A Bradshaw, Dr L Hill and Dr H Mathers served as members of the editorial board of the centenary history of the University
