Working with the community

The University brings substantial economic benefits to the city of Sheffield and creates many opportunities for the local community. We provide educational courses, and public events and lectures for local residents, and we work closely with schools, charities and other agencies across the city.

The University and the Students' Union are involved in a number of community initiatives that have been developed following feedback from the local community. By listening to the community our students make a positive contribution to the city.

The University also recognises that the presence of our predominantly younger students, often living away from home for the first time, can have a significant impact on the local area. We are committed to building positive relationships with the local community and to ensuring that our students are made aware of how their actions and behaviour can affect their neighbourhood.
