Outreach and Access Scheme

We are committed to attracting the best possible students. We're engaged in a number of initiatives to raise aspirations for higher education among under-represented groups.
The Access and Outreach Scheme is designed to build awareness of, and stimulate aspiration to higher education by enhancing achievement and encouraging application.
Our Outreach and Access team is involved with a number of activities with around 200 schools and colleges, mainly in South Yorkshire and bordering counties. Over 20,000 participants are involved every year.
Initiatives include:
- One-off activities such as our Excellence Hub days.
- Long-term schemes that are course specific such as SOAMS and ADOPT. These schemes identify potential students and offer mentor support to help them achieve the results needed to gain a place on their desired course.
- Study skills activities and higher education preparation.
- Mentoring for current school students.
- Aim Higher activities.
