Welcome to Chemical and Process Engineering We are one of the UK’s leading research-led chemical engineering departments. RAE results show the Department's research to be in the top 6 in the country for Chemical Engineering. Find out about our undergraduate courses The Department is Growing – Again! The builders have moved in and the latest phase of the Department’s growth has just begun. We are converting our original multi-storey combustion labs, built in the 1960’s, into a modern laboratory suite more in keeping with 21st century chemical engineering research. New intermediate floors are to be provided, overlooking a multi-height atrium space. This world class facility will provide a number of highly-serviced laboratory spaces, set within a flexible 'ideas zone' and complemented by new academic office space for the expanding research team. Our portfolio of 29 major research projects has a total budget in excess of £9.9 million. Our work is supported by UK Research Councils, Charities, UK Government and the EU. We work with a variety of organisations – from small, local companies to large blue chip multi-nationals – who all benefit from funding our ground-breaking research.
