Current Issues (updated December 2011)
Following a strong period of growth both in Sheffield and at the University, we are now in a period of consolidation. There are however some plans to improve conditions for cyclists and walkers in South Yorkshire under the banner of the Local Sustainable Travel Fund.
We are constantly looking for improvements that will make it easier for students to cycle between the Halls & Student Housing areas and the University and City Centre.
The University of Sheffield Cycle Forum continues to press for enhancements to the following routes :
- Leavygreave to Bolsover St, including a crossing of the Ring Road to join the two sections of the campus.
- Clarkehouse Rd & Glossop Rd.
- Halifax Hall to the University via Melbourne Avenue.
- Crookes/Walkley to the City Centre.
The University of Sheffield Cycle Forum continues to press for improvements to facilities at the University:
- More cycle parking facilities
- More Showers for cyclists
- Better signage of cycle routes
- Safety issues
- Better access to the University Concourse and Arts Tower Court areas.
