Noel Sharkey talks about cyber insects

The Independent on Sunday reported a military funded project that has resulted in a remote controlled flying beetle.

The University of California conducted the research. Noel Sharkey’s comments in the paper are not overly enthusiastic. You can hear him discussing it on The World Today on the BBC World Service (it’s the last item).

There is also a full written interview on the BBC News website. "It's actually quite useful to find out about the dynamics of flight and the biomechanics of the insect," says Professor Sharkey. "It's telling the scientists more than it is the military."
