Yorick Wilks elected ACM Fellow
Congratulations to Professor Yorick Wilks, who has been elected a Fellow of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).
A fellowship of the ACM is bestowed upon those ACM Members who have distinguished themselves by outstanding technical and professional achievements in the field of information technology. Strict procedures for nomination, selection, and approval of ACM Fellow candidates are established by ACM's Council. A Fellowship is a very high honour - only 47 Fellows were named this year out of a total of 68,000 Professional Members of the ACM.
This news follows the award of the BCS Lovelace Medal to Professor Wilks earlier this year, the award of the Zampolli Prize in 2008, and the Association for Computational Linguistics Lifetime Achievement award also in 2008.
