BSc/MComp Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is one of the greatest intellectual developments of the 20th century.

This course focuses on AI, its relationship to biological intelligence and its use in engineering systems. You'll also investigate how AI is used in speech recognition, language processing and robotics. Core computer science and software engineering topics are combined with more specific AI topics. Some of the course is dedicated to the related areas of neuroscience, psychology and philosophy. In the third year, you carry out a research project linked to AI research already underway in the department. Fourth-year students also undertake a piece of group research in the Darwin project, and have the option of taking part in Genesys Solutions.
