About the School
The £3.5 million Dental School building was opened on 7th April 1992. The Dental School building houses a modern 95-seat lecture theatre with traditional and digital projection facilities. On the ground floor there are 3 seminar/Tutorial rooms and a study room equipped with computers, all of which are linked to the University network and the Internet. One seminar room has a modern teleconferencing facility.
Most departments have study rooms for use by students and all have access to computer facilities within the hospital or School. On the second floor there is a 40-unit Dental Technology Laboratory with a dental chair for demonstrations via a live video link and computers offering CAL packages. In addition the School has a new dedicated 13 unit clinical skill laboratory and newly refurbished 20 place dental technology laboratory situated in an adjacent building.
Each of the departments housed in the Dental School building has one or more research laboratories, which are used with appropriate supervision by both undergraduate and postgraduate students during their research projects.
The School is adjacent and connected to the Charles Clifford Dental Hospital, which is undergoing a phased redevelopment. The Medical School, the Health Sciences Library and the Royal Hallamshire Hospital are nearby and all are on the perimeter of the main University campus.
