Biography
I joined the University in 2004 as a Lecturer having previously held research posts in Glasgow, Phoenix Arizona and Baltimore Maryland. I am currently undertaking clinical training in Radiology as well as running a research group that focuses on understanding the neural mechanisms of chronic pain.
Research Interests
I am interested in the anatomy and physiology of the central circuits that transmit pain-related information from to the brain. I use a combination of anatomical tracing, electrophysiological recording and functional imaging.
Teaching Interests
I teach radiology to undergraduate dental students as well as postgraduates and local practitioners. I also provide some of the neuroscience teaching for dental undergraduates.
Current projects
- Role of nerve growth factor in neuropathic pain
- Low-threshold C-fibres in health and disease
