Biography

I joined the University of Sheffield in 2002 as a Clinical Lecturer and Honorary Specialist Registrar in Dental Public Health. Since then I have completed by specialist training and was awarded a PhD in 2008. I am currently a Senior Lecturer and Honorary Consultant at NHS Sheffield.

Research Interests

My main interest is child-centred dental research to increase understanding of the impact of oral health and dental care on children and young people. My work involves inclusive research with children with the aim of informing policy and clinical practice.

I co-ordinate the Children and Young People Oral Health Research Group, a multidisciplinary team conducting research with children using a range of research methods

Teaching Interests

I teach undergraduate dental students, hygiene/therapy students and on the Masters in Dental Public Health programme. My main teaching interests include dental epidemiology and the organisation of dental healthcare systems

Professional activities

As well as being an Honorary Consultant to NHS Sheffield, I am a committee member of the South Yorkshire branch of the British Society of Paediatric Dentistry and examiner for the Diploma in Dental Public Health examination for the Royal College of Surgeons of England
