Research Interests

My main research interest is the acceptability and quality of care provided by Dental Care Professionals.

Traditionally the term acceptability has been used synonymously with patients´ satisfaction with care received, where experiential views are sought. However, I am also interested in the broader social acceptability of using skill-mix in dentistry – including experiential and non-experiential views - which I am investigating qualitatively and quantitatively.

Other research interests include the distribution and organisation of paediatric general anaesthetic services, epidemiology of oral diseases and the evaluation of specialists services provided in primary care. The first two of these research areas are undertaken through collaboration with the Yorkshire and Humber Public Health Observatory.
