ACCESSIBILITY

Access Statement

The University Of Sheffield Drama Studio has an Access Policy which is specific to the venue and currently conforms to DDA legislation. The Drama Studio is a Grade II listed building which can make approval of structual work for accessibility difficult. However, we are constantly looking for new ideas and opportunities and aim to provide the best possible service we can for everybody.

Wheelchair Access

Wheelchair users can gain access to the Drama Studio via the Shearwood Road entrance where a member of the Drama Studio staff can assist. This entrance is on the stalls level where there are 8 wheelchair spaces available. These spaces must be booked in advance directly through each user group’s box office number as seating must be removed to make room. Please see the Buying Tickets section on this website for more information. Also located on the stalls level is a unisex accessible toilet which works on a RADAR key. If you do not have a RADAR key you can acquire one from a member of the Front of House staff.
For patrons who have difficulty negotiating stairs, seats in the first to third rows of the stalls are preferable, as there is only 1 to 3 steps involved.

Hearing Impairment

The Drama Studio is fitted with both a hearing induction loop and an infra-red hearing system which are operational throughout the auditorium. Receivers for the infra-red hearing system are available from the Drama Studio office.
