MPhil/PhD degrees
The PhD is a doctoral qualification which is gained through successful production of a thesis and viva. Initially all students register for an MPhil and move onto a PhD after successfully producing an upgrade paper and passing their upgrade viva. Students may study for their PhD on a full or part time basis.

- Encourage students to take charge of their development, by giving them ownership of their training, informing them, providing a flexible course structure, and advice and mentoring on personal development and career path.
- Develop topical courses that balance cutting edge thinking, with fundamental principles, core concepts, and professional transferable skills, delivered through best practice teaching techniques.
- Foster innovative cutting-edge internationally competitive research.
- Work in partnership with industry and governmental organisations, to offer placements and internships, maintain relevance and broaden the experience of the students.
