Initial Teacher Education (Secondary)

The secondary PGCE is a one year course providing initial teacher education. The course leads to Qualified Teacher Status, with 60 Masters credits. On completion of the course these credits can be taken forward towards the MA in Applied Professional Studies in Education.

There are currently places available on the Physics PGCE with bursaries, please email Andy McLean if you are interested in starting your Physics PGCE this September: a.mclean@sheffield.ac.uk.

The GTTR and DfE websites are updated regularly should any places in other subjects become available for this year.

   

  

There are two routes which you can take to gain a PGCE:

Students at the School of EducationCore PGCE

To study on the Core PGCE you will apply directly to the University of Sheffield

International student at the School of EducationSchool Direct PGCE

To follow the School Direct route you will apply to a local cluster of schools working in partnership with the University of Sheffield
