Research interests
My research interests are around Professional Ethics, Social Justice, Child Advocacy and Autism. To date, my research has focussed on Professional Ethics with particular reference to Virtue Theory. I have a particular interest in ethical dilemmas and ethical problem-solving both within educational psychology and at its interface with other agencies.
Teaching
I was appointed in January 2009 to teach part-time (0.5) on the three year doctorate in Educational and Child Psychology programme as an associate tutor on secondment from Lancashire County Council. I am now on secondment from Blackpool Borough Council.
Professional Practice
I have worked as an educational psychologist since 1998 with responsibility points awarded for taking a lead within the team on Autism. Prior to this, I worked as a tutor (part-time) on the Open University French Course and as a Head of French in the Secondary Sector in Lancashire, but including three years on an Overseas Aid Contract in Zambia and some primary and ESL teaching. I trained with Relate as a relationship counsellor some years ago but no longer practise. I am an external examiner on the Birmingham University EdPsychD Programme of Study and act as an internal and external examiner for trainees on the 3 year doctoral training programme at various universities.
