Energy and Carbon

The Energy Team oversee the action being taken by the University to meet our HEFCE carbon reduction targets of a 43% reduction by 2020 (on a 2005 baseline).

This means we need to reduce our emissions down to 19,000 tonnes, all while continuing to expand our activity as a University. A challenging target, but one that can be achieved through Energy Efficiency, Behaviour Change and Self Generation.

Our Energy Strategy document and Carbon Management Plan outline how we aim to achieve our targets. Note that this is an initial strategy document provided by the University's consultant Arup, and it will continue to be developed as our work progresses.
