Grammar
This course is to help you improve your written and spoken grammar accuracy. Your teacher will cover common problem areas. Your teacher will also do a Grammar Needs Analysis in the first session to create a useful course for most of the students in the class. You will work in pairs and groups to help you think about how grammar works.
The Grammar Syllabus is a 40% `fixed core´ + 60% `negotiated´ syllabus. Negotiation should take place in Week 4.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
At the end of this course, you should have improved your ability to do the following:
- Identify and correct errors in your own writing and that of others
- Select appropriate verb tense and voice more effectively
- Use definite and indefinite articles more consistently
- Use prepositions more accurately
- Link phrases, by using connectives and relative clauses, to produce more complex sentences

- Make accurate comparisons
- Select appropriate modal verbs more effectively
- Use phrasal verbs accurately
- Produce correct word order in sentences when using adverbs
- Produce accurate sentences in the passive voice
- Use since, for and time adverbials appropriately
- Others as identified by the students or teacher
