Evaluating Your Programme
Course Evaluation
Each semester there are evaluations of the School by students. These are completely anonymous and are designed to gather opinion from all students, from Level One to Ph.D. level. Evaluation takes two forms. A questionnaire is handed out at the end of the academic year, inviting you to record opinion and comment on all aspects of the work of the School, and your experience of your year´s work or that in your degree as a whole. You are also invited to write comments on the work of every module you take. The data are analysed by course convenors and the School´s committees and reports are produced every semester and at the end of the academic year. The School takes evaluation very seriously and recommendations arising from your returns are considered by all staff and the Staff-Student Committee. Responses to evaluations are posted on Uspace.
Participating in other evaluation processes
You are also strongly encouraged to participate in other surveys outside the department.
National Student Survey (NSS) – this aims to find out the opinions of final year students in most UK Universities on their overall satisfaction with their programme. The results from this survey are published and widely available especially to students applying to universities.
Student Satisfaction Survey (SSS) (alternate years only) – the University runs a similar survey for non-final year students. The enables the University to gather feedback on all the facilities provided to students e,g halls of residence, library, sports facilities. You can find out how the University has responded to the findings from previous years’ surveys
