Conferences, seminars, and other events in the School of English
Every year, the School organises a number of conferences and workshops that bring together researchers from all areas of Literature, Language and Linguistics. We also run a number of seminar series in our three main programme areas: Literature, Language and Linguistics, and Language and Literature. Forthcoming conferences
The Poetry, Politics and Pictures in the Nineteenth Century Conference is a student-led interdisciplinary conference hosted by the University of Sheffield and planned for March 2010. Please see the link on the right for more information.
The University of Sheffield will be hosting the Fourth International Conference on Late Modern English 27 - 29 May 2010.

Workshops
The fourth Northern Englishes Workshop will be held at the University of Sheffield 7-9 April 2010 in Jessop West Exhbition Space. The workshop will combine open discussion with presentation of research on the linguistic 'North'.

Other Events
The University of Sheffield is hosting Round Two of the UK Linguistics Olympiad, a international linguistics competition for sixth-form students, from 19-21 March. Twelve to fifteen sixth-formers (winners of Round Two) will be in training for the Olympiad during that weekend. This is the first year that the UK has participated and the School of English is pleased to be associated with this event.
