The University of Sheffield
Erasmus Programme

Registration

Do I need to register with the University of Sheffield even if I am going to be abroad?

You MUST be registered with the University of Sheffield even if you will not be in the country for part or all of the academic year.

If you miss the deadline to register, you could be deemed withdrawn from the University of Sheffield. You could also end up facing long delays in receiving your Student Loan and Erasmus grant.

Semester One and Full Year Outgoers

Registry Services will be in touch with instructions on how to register with the University of Sheffield for 2012-13. This normally happens in the summer so keep checking your emails, even when the semester has finished.

Make sure you follow their instructions and stick to their deadline to save yourself any hassle prior to or during your time abroad.

Semester Two Outgoers

You should register in September as normal. Your semester abroad will be accounted for in your 120 credits.

Normally 'dummy' module codes are used to reflect the period abroad on your student record. Your academic department should be able to tell you what the relevant codes are for you.

How will I register at my host university?

Registration procedures vary greatly from one institution to another. Your host university should send you an information pack or some email correspondence to let you know if there is anything you should be doing prior to your study period.

If you do not receive anything, check the web pages or give them a call. You may be missing out on some vital information!
