Erasmus Grant

Erasmus grants are always transferred once students are already abroad and never before.

The first payment date for students commencing their Erasmus period abroad in the Autumn semester is early November provided that (i) that they have completed the required paperwork in good time and that (ii) there have been no unexpected delays in the receipt of our funding.

Erasmus grant requests are then sent to the Finance Office on a weekly basis for students whose paperwork did not reach us in time for the first transfer or who are commencing their Erasmus period abroad later in the year. The turnaround time from receipt of the required paperwork is normally 2 to 3 weeks.

I haven't received my Erasmus grant!

Please do the following:

• Check that you have completed the required paperwork and sent it to the International Exchanges Unit. Use the relevant Erasmus Grant Check-list and/or paperwork screencast tutorial in the 'before you leave' section of these web pages to help you.
  
  
• Allow time for postage and processing. Priority airmail within Europe takes at least 3 working days to arrive. Erasmus grant processing can take around 2 to 3 weeks from receipt of the required paperwork.
  
  
• Check with the International Exchanges Unit that your paperwork has been received if it has been more than 3 weeks since you sent it. Remember that the first grant payment transfer for Erasmus periods commencing in the Autumn semester is usually in early November.
  
  
• Check your Sheffield email account. The International Exchanges Unit sends automated emails to students to give them an estimated transfer date once their grants are being processed.
  
  
• If you have received our automated email, allow a few days after the estimated transfer date and double-check your bank account. Did you remember to provide your bank details via MUSE?
  
  
• If you have done all of the above and still haven't received the payment, please contact us by email.
