Facilities and support
The Faculty of Arts and Humanities is based around the Jessop West building at the heart of the campus.
Arts and Humanities research students have access to a wide range of facilities. These include:
- Dedicated postgraduate research space within your academic department
- Seminar and conference facilities within the Humanities Research Institute
- Seminar and hub rooms, a café, and an exhibition space in Jessop West
- Dedicated and drop-in work space for research students, and seminar and interview rooms at the North Campus Graduate Research Centre.
University Library
The University Library provides access to a wealth of material to support learning and research; over 1,300,000 printed volumes and an extensive range of high quality electronic resources. Many resources are accessible from off-campus online.
British Library: Boston Spa
The Library runs a regular free minibus service to the British Library Document Supply Centre at Boston Spa for academic staff, researchers and students of the University of Sheffield carrying out research in relation to their course or employment at the University.
Support for research students
Research students have access to a variety of support from both within their academic departments, from Research and Innovation Services, and general University services.
Research and Innovation Services provide advice and guidance to research students as they progress through their research degree. They also publish the Code of Practice for Research Degree programmes.
