Faculty Learning and Teaching Funding

As in previous years, the Faculty has been allocated funds for curriculum development activities by individuals and departments in 2010-11.
The Faculty Learning and Teaching Committee has agreed that funding should be deployed in order to meet two principal objectives:
- the need to be proactive in taking forward the objectives of the Faculty Learning and Teaching Strategy.
- the need to be reactive to the needs of individuals or departments
Departments in the Faculty have each been allocated a sum of money under objective 1, to enable them to develop ideas under the broad heading of employability.
In order to meet objective 2, the Faculty is continuing the 'Rapid Response' scheme which operated in 2009-10 and provided a number of small grants to support projects from curriculum away days to developing student presentation skills. The idea of these grants is to allow individuals or groups to bid for a small amount of money, up to around £300, to enable them to achieve a small, but significant enhancement to their learning and teaching. There is a minimum of paperwork, and a promise of a quick response to the proposer's submission. There are no deadlines for proposals which can be submitted at any time, with a response within 2 weeks. Funding is limited, so proposals will be dealt with on a first-come first-served basis.
