King James in Sheffield
The King James Bible anniversary year is well under way. Our
exhibition, Telling Tales of King James' Bible, can now be seen in
venues across the country including the cathedrals of Birmingham
(-December 2011), Bristol (-30th June), Canterbury (-December 2011),
Durham (7th April-4th May), and Lichfield (-23rd April). Those based in
and around Sheffield will have chance to view it and explore The
UnAuthorized Version in Sheffield Cathedral during May-June and again in
October.
We would draw particular attention to our conference on Biblical
Literacy and the Curriculum (25-28 May 2011). The programme includes
examples of how the Bible is already present in Higher Education
including case studies from Economics, Sociology and English, and space
for discussion about how lack of familiarity with this cultural text
impacts learning in different fields and how this can be addressed.
We will do our best to accommodate members of the University of
Sheffield who wish to attend parts of the conference programme, and day
passes are available to purchase from the Online Shop. Do note that
bookings (including any special arrangements) should be made in advance
as our venue capacity is limited. More information is available from the
Project web site: http://sheffield.ac.uk/kjv/conference
Delegate rates are £40 (£28 concessions) for the full conference or £20
(£15) for a one-day pass.
