Women of Steel
Women of Steel: Showroom Cinema, Showroom 5, Sheffield. Friday 4th Feb, 2-3pm. Free admission.
'Women of Steel' is an initiative from Sheffield City Council which marks the contribution women played in the Sheffield steel industry during World War II.
In December 2010, six undergraduate students from the School of English met with some of the women of steel to talk about their lives and experiences, and at this free public event they will present films and digital artefacts of that meeting. There will also be a chance to hear the women speak in person.
This event promises to be an innovative, moving, and charming journey through Sheffield's past, present, and future. Mike Braddick, PVC for Arts and Humanities, and Amy Carter, Head of Arts at Sheffield City Council, will be opening the event. You are warmly invited to attend. No need to book.
