Faculty Pro Vice-Chancellor (FPVC)
The FPVC is responsible for the leadership and management of the faculty and its continued growth. Financial management and ensuring the faculty achieves a balanced budget are key elements of the role. The FPVC also chairs the Faculty Executive Board and represents the faculty on the University Executive Board, setting and driving strategy at University and faculty level.The FPVC represents the faculty externally and is responsible, with a team of Faculty Diirectors, for leading and developing Faculty strategy and policies to ensure growth and success. The FPVC and faculty Directors also play a key role in the appointment and promotion of academic staff across the faculty.
Faculty Director of Learning and Teaching (FDLT)This is a key role within the faculty, responsible for overseeing quality assurance and enhancement for all courses, student progress and fitness to practise arrangements.The FDLT is a member of the Faculty Executive Board and represents the faculty at University level committees. The FDLT is responsible for establishing robust faculty quality assurance mechanisms, developing quality and enhancement and for developing a Learning and Teaching Strategy for the faculty. The FDLT will liaise closely with teaching leads in each school and department and will chair the Faculty Learning and Teaching Committee. |

Faculty Director for Research and Innovation (FDRI)The FDRI is responsible for developing the research, innovation and knowledge exchange strategy for the faculty.The FDRI will develop and promote appropriate research policies for all activities, working with the FDRIs in other faculties and research leads within departments, to actively promote inter-departmental strategies and inter-disciplinary research. They will provide leadership in research and support the development of management information, key performance indicators and benchmarks to evaluate and increase research performance. A key part of the role is to promote the faculty externally, making the most of external networks, especially with regard to NHS R&D colleagues and NHS funding opportunities. |
Faculty Director of Research & Innovation (FDRI) |
Faculty Director of Operations (FDO)This role is to work across the faculty and the University to ensure the strategic and operational development of the faculty.This involves working closely with the Faculty PVC and Directors, Heads of Departments within the faculty, school/department managers and colleagues in professional services to develop and deliver strategy. The FDO has responsibility for organisational development and infrastructure to ensure high quality, effective support services. This involves review of support services and recommendations for change. Monitoring and evaluation of faculty performance (budget, student numbers, research standing, etc) are key parts of the role as are the development of faculty communications and identity. |
Faculty Director of Operations (FDO) |
Faculty Finance Manager (FFM)The FFM is responsible for financial planning, forecasting, budget monitoring and control and advises on and monitors faculty financial performance.The FFM works closely with departments/schools to support forward planning and to advise on the financial impact of proposals and decisions. The FFM makes monthly reports to Faculty Executive Board on income and expenditure at Faculty and Department level and advises the Board on the financial impact and sustainability of decisions. They communicate and implement financial policies and promote financial awareness within the faculty. They are a source of expertise for all financial matters within the faculty. |
