Dr Kay Guccione - Mentoring & Coaching
Part of the Researcher Professional Development Team, I design and evaluate the University's researcher mentoring and coaching programmes, partnering research staff and students with academic and non-academic mentors. I ensure that programmes are aligned to research strategies, and current understanding of learning and development, as well as to national policy relating to the development of researchers. I also lead on developing the Industry-Academia Industrial Knowledge Forge programme.
I now have three years experience creating mentoring and coaching programmes, and I provide consultancy in: the design and development of training for new and experienced mentors; embedding a mentoring culture in the workplace; team and committee development (including MBTI).
I have current research collaborations with Sheffield Hallam University ('the value of mentoring for academic development') and my further research and scholarly interests include:
- ---> Coaching as a developmental process for timely submission of the PhD Thesis
- ---> Understanding how psychometric analyses fit within a model of adult learning
- ---> The role of self-leadership in academic progress
As well as research and programme design. I mentor students at the University of Derby where I am also currently a post-graduate student studying MA Education: Leadership, Coaching and Mentoring. I work 1:1 with clients at all levels (inside and outside the academic environment) to support them in developing leadership capabilities, and facilitate groups, teams and committees through times of change and in future planning. email me: k.guccione@sheffield.ac.uk to discuss programme design or 1:1 work
