For staff

Committee meeting room in ICoSS building

The faculty is led by the Faculty Pro Vice Chancellor, Professor Gill Valentine, supported by a Director of Operations, Rob Sykes.

There are a number of committees, the most senior of which is the Faculty Executive Board, consisting of all Heads of department within the faculty together with the Faculty Directors of Research & Innovation and Learning & Teaching, and the Director of the faculty's research facility - the Interdisciplinary Centre of the Social Sciences (ICoSS). There are also specific committees for Research & Innovation, and Learning & Teaching.

We are committed to building an open and transparent culture of communication within the faculty, and all minutes of these committee's meetings will be posted to this site (though restricted to Sheffield staff and students only) - see the menu on the left.

Key strategic and operational documents relating to the Faculty, and indeed wider University, are available via downloads on the right. These include the original Faculty Plan (2009-13) and the update (2010-14); our Mission, Vision and Identity Statement; Research and Innovation and Learning and Teaching strategies; the Equality and Diversity action plan; and a copy of the University document – the Sheffield Academic.

In addition, we intend to hold a number of Faculty Forums each year, to which all staff in the faculty are invited to ask any questions they might have about the faculty.
