For students

The establishment of faculties within the University will, in some ways, have little impact on you as a student. The University, and the faculty, is wholly committed to the concept that it is academic departments that are the 'disciplinary home' for students, and indeed for many staff.

However, while the faculties are clearly newly established, over time they have the capacity to positively influence the quality of the learning and teaching environment.

One of the ways in which they will do this is through enhancing the existing collaboration between departments in the faculty, which could have significant benefits for enhancing the already high-quality intellectual and physical learning environment.

The faculty will also enhance the strong external reputations of its constituent departments, through building faculty level relationships with key national and international organisations and bodies. This can only positively influence external perceptions of its graduates with employers.

The faculty is committed to reaching out to its student body, and to this end will be seeking to include student representation on relevant committees, and faculty officers will organise and speak at regular Faculty Student Forums that are being planned.
