Help on ... pay a student’s maintenance, scholarship, fees or prizes
University departments can arrange to pay fees and maintenance costs for a student from a departmental account code. These payments are usually made to research students and can either be funded from a departmental account or from an external sponsor who has previously paid an award to the University for us to administer.
Payments can be arranged for:
1. Maintenance and Tuition Fees
- departments should arrange the scholarship/maintenance payment to the student by completing the internal funding form for Maintenance and Tuition Fees
- to qualify for scholarship/maintenance payments students must be in Fully Registered status (FR) with the University
- students must provide their bank account details via their MUSE account
- the first payment will be made within five working days of confirmation of a student’s FR status and receipt of a student's bank details
- payments are made to the student’s bank account on a quarterly basis:

- 1 October payment (or as soon as FR status obtained) covers October, November and December
- 1 January payment covers January, February and March
- 1 April payment covers April, May and June
- 1 July payment covers July, August and September
- cross-sessional students (not starting in October) will have different payment dates. For example if students starts in February payment dates should be 1 Feb, 1 May, 1 Aug and 1 Nov. Please follow templates as below:

2. Other Fee Payments
- other fee payments for research students include payment of a continuation fee, submission fee or resubmission fee
- departments should arrange payment of fees by downloading and completing the internal funding form for other fee payments
- payment of the fees will be made directly to the University
3. Prizes and Awards
- departments can arrange payment of prizes and award by completing the internal funding form for prizes and awards
