The University of Sheffield Pension Scheme (USPS)
I want to obtain an estimate of my retirement benefits |
| Before you make any decisions about retirement it is usually best to obtain an estimate of what your pension and lump sum are likely to be at your chosen retirement date. This can help you to plan your finances at retirement. If you are thinking of retiring, you can request an estimate of your benefits from the Pensions Office. You should note that all figures provided are estimates, based on the salary you have received in the last twelve months’ of employment. It is usually more accurate if quotations are carried out as near to the retirement date as possible. You should note that an estimate does not constitute an entitlement to benefits; the Pensions Office will not automatically assume you will retire on the requested date. Final retirement dates are always subject to University, and sometimes Trustee, consent depending upon your circumstances. Only two free quotations will be issued to any individual within any 12 month period, except in exceptional circumstances. For an official estimate, please send a letter or email to the Pensions Office, specifying the date at which you would like the estimate to be calculated and the preferred address to which you would like the response to be sent. Please note it can take 4-6 weeks to process an estimate depending upon the complexity of your service with the University (eg if you have many changes of part-time hours). |
