Artist in residence : Nicolas Moulin

Amanda Crawley Jackson was awarded a grant from the Leverhulme Trust for an Artist in Residence in the Department for 3 months during 2009. The funding brought internationally renowned French artist Nicolas Moulin, who currently lives and works in Berlin, to Sheffield for the second time.

Amanda first invited Nicolas to Sheffield during the 2007-08 session, when he gave a well-received talk about his practice in the Humanities Research Institute.

Nicolas' work has been widely exhibited and purchased by such important public institutions as the Musée d´Art moderne in Paris. He was awarded the prestigious Arcimboldo Prize in 2006. His photographic and installation work engages with cityscapes, interrogating concepts such as reality and utopia. 'ViderParis' (2001) received extensive critical acclaim.
