Professor David Walker contributes to prestigious new editions of works by André Gide : "Romans et récits, œuvres lyriques et dramatiques"

On 19 March 2009 Editions Gallimard in Paris launched the two-volume edition of André Gide´s complete fiction and theatre, "Romans et récits, œuvres lyriques et dramatiques", in its prestigious Bibliothèque de Pléiade collection.

Professor David Walker of the University of Sheffield is the only non-French member of the six distinguished scholars who produced this landmark publication. His contribution is the fruit of many years´ research on Gide, which has also produced monographs and editions of important Correspondence as well as the publication of a previously neglected manuscript, "Le Ramier".

Less than six months previously, Professor Walker also saw his expertise recognised with the completion in November 2008 of the four-volume "Œuvres complètes" of Albert Camus, also published in the Bibliothèque de la Pléiade, for which he was the only UK member of an international team of researchers.

`It´s a great honour and a privilege to have been able to work on the writings of two of the twentieth century´s greatest Nobel-prize-winning authors,´ he says.
