The interdisciplinary Social Science Gender Research Network was set up in 2006 with support from the Social Science Divisional Research Fund.
We have more than 50 members who are primarily researchers (staff and students) working in a diverse range of departments and disciplines and are interested in interdisciplinary gender research in the social sciences. Currently GRN members are drawn from more than eighteen departments in five different faculties in the University.
Since its inception the network has held seminars and workshops with both internal and external speakers, and networking events to facilitate information and skill sharing among members (see events and activities). A postgraduate gender research network (PGRN) has also been set up (see PGRN). We also have links to the recently formed WUN Gender Studies Group and the Centre for Gender Studies in Europe based at the University of Sheffield.
The GRN is currently convened by Georgina Waylen (Politics) and Victoria Robinson (Sociological Studies).
