Intro Week Welcome Walk – Saturday 26th September – all welcome!
All undergraduate and postgraduate students are invited to join Geography staff and members of the GeogSoc committee on a special walk to the Peak District to welcome all our new Geography students to Sheffield.
The walk will take place on Saturday 26 September, will begin from Endcliffe Park at approximately 2pm, and will follow a six-mile route to the Fox House Inn (public house) near Hathersage, returning the same evening by public transport to Ecclesall Road. Route details and where to meet-up:
- Meet at 2pm at the entrance to Endcliffe Park (near the Hunters Bar roundabout on Ecclesall Road) before departing for the Fox House Inn at 2.15pm
- Arrive at the Fox House Inn at around 5pm – food and celebratory refreshments can be purchased at the pub but please be aware that the pub is likely to be busy
- Return by public transport from the Fox House Inn– bus service 272 departs to Meadowhall via Ecclesall Road at 17.33, 18.35, 19.35, 21.53 and 23.53 (last bus).
Alternatively, you can meet us at 5pm at the Fox House Inn by taking the bus service 272 which departs to Castleton via the Fox House Inn from Ecclesall Road. A shorter 3 mile walk around Burbage from the Fox House Inn is indicated on the map (click the image above).

Important: All participants undertake the walk at their own risk and must ensure that they are physically fit and medically able to participate. Be prepared for bad weather (wear boots, warm clothes, waterproofs etc.) and bring a map, money for transport, your mobile phone, and any medication you might need.
