Peter Jackson appointed Chair of the Food Standards Agency's Social Science Research Committee (SSRC)
Professor Peter Jackson has been appointed as Chair of the Food Standards Agency's (FSA) Social Science Research Committee (SSRC), having previously served on the committee since its inception in 2008.
The FSA was established in 2000 to protect the public's health and consumer interests in relation to food. The SSRC is one of several Science Advisory Committees, set up by the Agency to provide sound and impartial scientific advice on which to base policy decisions about food safety and security. The Chair of SSRC also serves on the Agency’s General Advisory Committee on Science.
Recent SSRC activities have included responsibility for delivering a major new survey of consumer attitudes and behaviours (Food & You) and a contribution to understanding the causes of the recent rise in Listeria among the over-60s.
