Supertram
From the Railway Station and Transport Interchange, the easiest way to travel to the department is by Supertram. There is a stop at the Railway Station (far side of the station from the main entrance, accessed via the overbridge). Trams from the station to the University run on the Blue route (destination "Malin Bridge").

Trams from the city centre to the University run on both the Blue route and the Yellow route (destination "Middlewood").

During the day, trams run every 10 minutes (15 minutes on Sundays) from 6.00am to midnight. Buy your tickets on the trams. Alight at the "University of Sheffield" stop. This is a request stop. The department is a five-minute walk from the "University of Sheffield" tramstop, which is in the bottom-right of the map below

Bus
The 95 bus stops outside the department, and the 52 bus stops outside the main campus buildings. There is further bus information on the Travel South Yorkshire pages.

Taxi
There is a taxi rank outside the railway station. The journey takes around 10 - 15 minutes and should cost no more than £7.50. If the driver doesn't know where the department is, ask for the Star & Garter pub on Crookes Valley Road.

By Car
Parking is very difficult around the University, so you are advised not to use a car unless you are assured of a parking space. Travel instructions are given in the general travel directions to the University. University Square is shown middle-right in the map below.

When approaching the department from junction 7 Shalesmoor, continue uphill along Netherthorpe Road to the next roundabout - junction 6 University Square, and then take the fourth exit (Bolsover Street); the department is on the left after the Arts Tower.
