Our courses
All of our courses are focused on providing you with an in-depth knowledge of your area of study. There is an emphasis on practical research and geographical skills that are developed through our fully paid fieldwork exercises that operate on all of our courses.
BA Single Honours Human Geography - L700
Human Geography is based on studying a range of social issues in which space, location and environment are at the core. This can range from local and individual issues such as regional identity, all the way up to major worldwide and international phenomena like globalisation. |
BSc Single Honours Physical Geography - F800
Physical Geography is the study of the processes that underlie past and present changes in our environment. It focuses on a wide range of areas including glacial processes, ocean dynamics and the atmosphere. You will develop key scientific skills used to analyse physical geographical processes. |
BA Dual Honours Geography and Planning - LK74
- Typical offer: ABB
This course combines geography with town planning, allowing for those with a view to concentrate on more urban and human geography to add a secondary area of specialism to their degree. Based in the Geography department you will receive your personal tutor from here, whilst the course content will be split evenly between the two subject areas.
Entry Requirements
Core requirements
We normally expect applicants to offer at least three full A Levels. Typical offers for each course are quoted in terms of your best three GCE A Level grades or equivalent
Normally, at least two grades must be in Acceptable subjects; the third can be in any Acceptable or Acceptable in Combination subject. We may at our discretion decide to allow one A Level grade to be substituted with either 2 AS Level grades or 6 units of the BTEC National Award.
For all applicants, there is a core requirement of at least Grade C in GCSE Mathematics and English. Applicants whose first language is not English are required to take a suitable test (details below).
Acceptable subjects
For the list of Acceptable subjects and Acceptable in Combination subjects, please see the University's Guidance on A Level Subject Requirements at:
www.sheffield.ac.uk/undergraduate/policies/alevel.html
For native speakers of a language other than English who are taking that language at A-level, we will consider that subject as 'Acceptable in Combination'.
