Henry graduated from the University of Reading in 2006 with a BSc. (Hons) in Physical Geography, after which he went on to complete an MSc. in Glaciology at Aberystwyth University, graduating in 2008 with distinction. Henry returned to the Centre for Glaciology at Aberystwyth in September 2008 to undertake a Ph.D numerically modelling the dynamic instabilities of the Welsh Ice Cap and Icelandic Ice Sheet, jointly funded by the department and the British Geological Survey. In August 2013, Henry took up a research post at the University of Sheffield in order to explore the origin and glaciological significance of ice-sheet overdeepenings.
Research Interests |
My principal areas of research lie in the reconstruction of ice sheets and their dynamics utilising a number of methods including numerical modelling, geomorphological mapping and sedimentological analyses. Specifically, my work has focused on:

Current research |
I am a Research Assistant working on a project to collect and analyse geophysical, geomorphological and glaciological datasets with the aim of answering 'What controls the location and evolution of subglacial overdeepeing by ice sheets?' (http://www.sheffield.ac.uk/geography/phd/projects/icesheetbeds). The study will utilise systematic GIS-based and statistical analyses of basin form and location in contemporary and palaeoglaciological settings, primarily using subglacial topography datasets for Antarctica and Greenland. The project is funded by NAGRA (National Cooperative for the Disposal of Radioactive Waste), Switzerland. |
