Laboratory experiments
To better constrain data interpreted from the geological record I conduct experimental work using a large ring-shear apparatus stationed at the Department of Earth Sciences, University of Aarhus. The work carried out on a range of granular materials aims to establish relationships between subglacial stresses, sediment deformation, and the resultant structures. I believe that such experiments, largely neglected in the past have a great potential in advancing our knowledge of the mechanisms of ice movement and sediment transfer.
