John spent seven years working in the Psychology department at the University of Wolverhampton, and moved to the University of Sheffield in 2003.

Departmental responsibilities

John provides technical and research support to the Social and Spatial Inequalities Research group (SASI). Current work includes Worldmapper, which displays over 500 world maps with countries re-sized according a range of variables, and a project for David Blunkett MP on changing inequalities in Sheffield.

Other information

John is from Halesowen (near Birmingham) originally, hence the curse of being a West Brom supporter. He now lives in Hadfield (Glossop). He still enjoys a game of squash and football, though much of his spare time is taken up with his three young boys, and his role as governor of Hadfield Infant School.
