The MA in Germanic Studies (Programme Track) involves:

  • 1 Core Module providing dissertation support: 15 credits
  • 1 Main Content Module on approaches to aspects of Germanic Studies: 30 credits
  • 1 Directed Reading module (dissertation related): 15 credits
  • Any combination of the following to a total value of 60 credits:
  • 2nd Main Content Module (30 credits); 3rd Main Content Module (30 credits); Introduction to Research Methods in Germanic Studies (15 credits); 1 or 2 further Directed Reading Module(s) (15 credits each); 1 or 2 Optional Module(s) offered by a cognate department or departments (= External Module), selected for its relevance to the student’s dissertation topic and negotiated between the Department of Germanic Studies and the department offering the module: 15 or 30 credits
  • Dissertation: 60 credits

This provides a total for the Master’s degree of 180 credits.
