Call for Abstracts

We invite the submission of abstracts for platform or poster presentations which will present empirical research drawing on Conversation Analysis (CA) methods and findings to investigate interactions involving one or more participants with a communication disorder.  Papers describing the use of CA to implement and evaluate interventions targeted at communication impairment interactions will also be welcome.

The range of communication disorders and difficulties could include, but are not limited to: aphasia, dysarthria, specific language impairment (SLI), stammering/stuttering, hearing impairment, and the communication impairments associated with dementia, autism, learning difficulties, traumatic brain injury, schizophrenia and right hemisphere damage.  Papers would also be welcome on, for example, interactions involving the use of augmentative and alternative communication, sign language, and interactions between professionals and people with communication impairments.

Platform presentations will be allocated a 30-minute slot (20 minutes for the paper and 10 minutes for questions/discussion).  Posters will be put up all day on one of the two days and there will be specific time allocated for participants to read posters and discuss them with poster presenters.

For both platform presentations and posters, abstracts of no more than 300 words (excluding references) should be submitted.  Please use the form below to submit your abstract.

It is also possible to submit a panel of papers.  A panel should be focused on a specific theme or communication disorder.  A panel will be allocated either a 1.5 hour slot (for a panel of at least 3 papers) or a 3 hour slot (for a panel of at least 6 papers).  The panel proposal should be limited to 300 words, as should the individual paper proposals of the panel.  Please use the same form below to submit a proposal for a panel.

All abstracts will be subject to blind review by members of the conference scientific committee.

Deadline for submission of abstracts: 14th February 2013

Notification of acceptance will be given by: 28th February 2013
